FINAL REFLECTION:
Experience: This module was definitely one of the most interesting and fun modules I have had to take yet. I really enjoyed every single assignment and project we had to do, it allowed me to really experiment with new ideas and techniques. Each lecture really helped me as well, I already have a design background but learning the basics is still extremely important and it was clear that I still have a lot to learn. Doing this subject online was another hurdle we all had to face, honestly I didn't struggle too much with online learning. I was lucky enough to have my parents here with me and they wanted me to focus on my studies and it really helped. But there were quite a few difficulties, specifically feedback. The feedback we'd get weekly was all we could hear most of the time as we couldn't just find them on campus outside class hours to get an opinion so that was a bit hard to deal with. But overall it was pretty good, the lecturers did a great job trying to keep us interactive and I learned a lot.
Observation: As an artist there are so many things that you can always improve upon and that even the best of best, people we idolise as amazing and talented artists, are growing and learning everyday. I really admire that and think it's so interesting how much depth there is to illustration and art in general. Style is something we all want as an artist. Something that would allow people to recognise that it was yours. I realised it really comes with practice, and a little bit of good stealing. I also noticed how much I have left to grow as an artist, I am excited as this is only the beginning of my journey.
Findings: I found that knowing your tools are very vital when it comes to being a designer. Your skills are just as important, but you need to know your programs in and out as it will speed up your process immensely. If I had no prior knowledge to Photoshop and animation I don't think I would have been able to do my work as well as I did. Another finding was that research is key, you need to have references and be put together when presenting your ideas. While pitching an idea you need to have everything they could want and I learned a lot about those things in this subject.
Final Thoughts: Overall I am honestly really happy with the work I have done this semester! I know we are all growing and becoming better overtime, I hope to look back on this time and realise just how much I have grown. But being happy with yourself is also extremely important to me, I can't always be harsh on myself and pick every little mistake I made during this semester. Because if I did that, I'd end up hating my work and never being able to be proud of what I do. So yes, this module was so fun and I'm sad it's over. Thank you Ms Yvonne and Mr Kannan for being great lecturers and I wish we could have had class in real life!
