Week 11 Lecture:
Journal Publication:
REFLECTION
Experience: I enjoyed writing this article. As someone who enjoys writing, being given a chance to write something like a journal article on a topic that I already had researched was definitely fun. Especially from a different stance from the one I took in my dissertation. I focused on character design in the journal article, it was a nice opportunity to further explore my topic
Observation: There are so many ways you can create a visual publication and make them look interesting. Being experimental but also keeping readability in mind is essential when taking upon something like this. As designers, we need to keep anything we create well polished and have a certain flair that most people will not try and achieve. That flair is what distinguishes us from everyone else, and what makes us "designers".
Findings: The way you word sentences significantly impacts the reader's expectations for what they are about to read. Dr Hayati advised me on my title for the journal publication, as it initially gave readers the impression I would discuss racial stereotyping and character design both in-depth. But it was more about character design but slightly mentioning racial stereotyping. With a quick change of words, it instantly gave a different impression. Showing how crucial wording can be.
